Regional Rail Extends Weekend Hours, Suburbanites Rejoice
Good news for all you college kids and outskirts-dwellers: Three of SEPTA’s grizzled Regional Rail lines stand to get later weekend hours. The difference may be less than 90 minutes, but that’s three more drinks (at least). It’s like Daylight Savings for the non-driving suburban set. So who are the lucky lines? R5, R6, and R7. The changes go into effect Sunday along with some other spring-appropriate tinkering. The idea, of course, is to keep people downtown and spending, knowing those three drinks a piece will add up to some decent pocket money. It’ll also help city residents daytripping in the ‘burbs. Everyone wins, except maybe the dude who has to clean the last train of the night: Hastily pounded booze doesn’t look so good on upholstered seats.

When I read this yesterday I was so glad. SEPTA really needs more services late nights. This will also help when it comes to planning trips from NY/NJ. NJ Transit runs late and what if I came into Trenton with no SEPTA train running? That would be horrible. Woohoo to the R7!
