Phashionista: Giving You Spring Training In Style

michelle.jpg· Clothing designer and Drexel graduate Liza Goncalves (clothing pictured to the right ) is excited about trying tea bagging. But not in that way. “I want to try using teabags to stain the shirts to give them that real vintage feel”, she says when discussing ideas for her new line, Vintage Blue, inspired by the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). Most of us are familiar with the movie A League of Their Own, based on the AAGPBL, which taught us you can look cute and be athletic. The label has an exclusive license to use the league’s trademarks, logos and team names in their line of t-shirts, dresses, sweatpants, and hoodies. Says Goncalves, “Getting money is one of the hardest things. To get someone to believe in your line, see your vision and believe in your passion, and then cut a check and not want to take 80 percent of your company.” We hear Madonna isn’t hurting for cash- maybe give her a call.
