The Portable Technologicology: Are You Sirius? You Have To Be Transmitting Me
>>>Yesterday, the Justice Department approved the merger of XM and Sirius satellite radio worth $5 billion. Hallelujah, shake dat booty, Howard Stern. Of course, monopoly is never that easy: now, Clear Channel is on its knees begging the FCC to restrict satellites’ often indecent, “cutting-edge” content. Good luck, but I have a feeling Howie will be serving up podcasts hella soon. [ArsTechnica]
>>>How do I say this nicely—Congratulations MAD Dragon, you are uhm, popular in Kansas City. I’ve heard they have running water and mp3 players there now. It’s just too bad most of your bands sound like a third- or fourth-rate Nada Surf. Kudos to the record exec who set this up; sucking up the young entrepreneurial spirit of Drexel students could power 1,000 record labels. Yeah, that was a compliment.[KansasCityStar]
>>> A quick update for those who followed along with my open letter to Comcast. On Friday, March 21, we finally got cable. The number of days it took to get service: 82. How much time I’ve spent on the couch since we got it? Undisclosed.[MyApartment]
I don’t like to go portable but sometimes nature calls. Technologicology with Brian James Kirk will return next week in surround sound. Promise. In the meantime, there’s plenty to catch up on in the archive.

BJK, congratulations on finally getting Brian Roberts ‘n’ Friendz to bend to your whims. Did you escalate? Did it work?

hey philebrity:
Pretty clever post re: MAD Dragon and the love from KC press. But, you may want to note that the feature was picked up from the AP. That’s the associated press for those unfamiliar – their network reaches over 1700 publications worldwide. And although Kansas City has a rich tradition of blues and BBQ (in addition to running water and MP3 players) – i would prefer to cite some of the other more notable pubs like Forbes, Business Week, Yahoo and AOL (just to name a few) who posted the story. You may want to get your facts together before you aim to rage on a non-profit…next time round.
best
