New Website Brings Manayunk Into The Web 2.0 Overstimulation Age
It’s got to be a strange time these days for Manayunk: What with so many of its transient post-college population flocking to Northern Liberties, thereby douche-ing up a different neighborhood, it’s also honing in on a new, less fratty Grape Street-free existence. (Who knew that the easiest way to get these people out of your way was pointing towards Girard Avenue and telling them that Mr. Greenjeans no longer plays here?) Could it be that the ‘Yunk is finally growing up? The jury is out, but I Love Manayunk seems to prove that the Philly2Night crowd has not quite yet left the building. While we like our neighborhood websites minimal and crappy, ILMYK seems to come from the DigPhilly school of “OMG! SIGN UP FOR THIS! NOW, SIGN UP FOR THIS! DO EVERYTHING HERE! NOW, DO THIS!” that I’m sure you all really love a lot, too. Nevertheless, ILMYK is kind of cute as a button, and reminds us that, hey, the Flat Rock isn’t bad if there’s not a lot of people in there.
