On May 1st, Charleston Black Cab Company will release tons of little British-style taxis in Philly. The three-year-old company is expanding after already having fleets in South Carolina and Los Angeles. For the Black Cabs in America, the company claims to have added an extra inch of foam in the seats for “the, erm, rounder American posterior.” The Charleston Black Cab Co. refers to the Black Cab as a limousine and “a civilized ride.” Their clients have included British and American royalty and celebrities. So this summer, don’t be frightened when a tiny, strange, black vehicle tries to pick you up on the street. Assume that it is just an alternative to your barbaric yellow cabs. And remember, there is extra padding for your, um, rounder American posterior.
