Cult Charles Burns Comic To Be Next Fight Club?
Variety‘s reporting that the creepy, beloved graphic novel Black Hole by Philly’s own Charles Burns is the next project for maverick director David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac), a dream pairing if there ever was one. Or maybe a nightmare pairing, considering Fincher loves to mine the murkiest of depths in his films, and Burns’ masterpiece — a collection of his series of comics about teens in a ’70s small town who develop grotesque deformities in lieu of STDs after intercourse — is the kind of thing that gets under your skin and is mighty hard to shake off. Combine that with a possible script by Sandman guru Neil Gaiman and/or Pulp Fiction co-writer Roger Avary, and this suddenly looks like one of the darker, hairier, more promising projects to come along the bland Hollywood pipeline in quite some time.
