Food Blob: Mmm, That’s Good Mass-Production
>>> Philly subscribers to the PETA email list got a strange and perhaps unsettling piece of spam yesterday: An email imploring them to try the vegetarian offerings at local 7-Eleven’s. We know, your mouth is already watering: faux chicken, seitan steak, falafel, and tofu egg salad. The veg-friendly 7-Elevens are as follows: 16th & JFK, 19th & JFK, 34th and Lancaster Ave., Ridge Ave. and Walnut Lane, Temple University and Willow Grove Avenue (Glenside). Surely this is a great day for crustpunks.
>>> Reminder: 5:30pm today is the day the Starbucks died. May we humbly recommend that in their stead you consume La Colombe or Old City Coffee? Hell, if it gets down to it, you know that Wawa coffee is really quite enjoyable. [NYT]
>>> And finally, a peek at West Philly’s Vietnam CafĂ©. Can’t wait to try this place. [PhillyFoodGuys]

I second the deliciousness of the stuffed grape leaves and also highly recommend the wonton soup both with and without egg noodles! Add a touch of Sriracha and those winter sniffles dissipate like magic.

I’ll third the deliciousness of Vietnam Cafe. You can nip next door to the Fu Wah for your tofu hoagie while waiting for your table. Now all we need is La Lupe West and I’ll never have to change out of my bunny slippers again.
