I’m not sure if we’ve ever mentioned this on the site before, but if there is one thing that the entire Philebrity brain trust can agree on — and there is not too, too much — it is this: City Of God, Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund’s epic tale of the drug trade and street gangs in the Favela during the 1960s and ’70s, is more or less the greatest film of the last 20 years. No, seriously. So when we heard that that the film’s producers had made a sequel of sorts — City Of Men, which revisits the same themes in a more contemporary setting — we got psyched. Very psyched. (View trailer at right.) And we’re pleased to report that we took in a press screening last week, and lo, it was good. Very good. City Of Men opens this weekend, but we have a clutch of passes to give away for tomorrow night’s advance screening.
