This Weekend: An Educated Consumer Is Our Best Customer

Philadelphyinz drop a new mixtape, just in time for the weekend. Get it here.
FRIDAY:
>>> Wouldn’t you know it: First measurable snow of the year falls, and there’s tons of stuff luring you out this weekend. If it’s not The Human Be-In late-night/BYOB jawn at Media Bureau with Spank Rock, Brendan Bring-Em and White Tees White Belts child prodigy DJ Sammy Slice, it’s the Daniel Johnston/Capitol Years show at the Troc we mentioned below. (Flyer and more info on the Be-In in listings.)
>>> But of course, there’s more. There always is. This is the Age of More. Madonna Michael Prince is at The Barbary , Ian Saint Laurent spins at Bar Noir, and I’m coming over to drink Tempranillo at Your House. Make sure you pick up some of that Alouette, don’t skimp.
SATURDAY:
>>> Welcome to the world, Danger Danger Gallery! Make A Rising and others play the opening night, but we can’t remember who and their MySpace page is set to private. Oh wait, here it is: Make Your Own Maps/Blipvert/Little Ocean round out the bill, 5013 Baltimore Ave. You’re the man now dog!
>>> Holy Stuff White People Like: Caucasians are ready to give you their first born for tix to see Wilco at the Tower, so good luck with that. It is taking every bone in my body not to make the cruelest jokes imaginable about the Wilco Afterparty at the M Room, but our own Doug Wallen is spinning it, and after the whole Meredith Broussard thing (we’ll explain on Monday), I’m doing everything I can to keep the office drama at a low hum, if you know what I’m saying.
>>> Or do this: Reserve a few pies at Tacconelli’s then swing over to the Green Rock Tavern for the coolest thing that has happened in Port Richmond in two whole years: Brother JT and Art Difuria (of The Photon Band) are playing a free show at 9pm. Old heads, young heads, Dead heads, let’s all unite and start to get back to the real work of rebuilding this scorched, destroyed America. Figure out a way to go to this AND The Tough Shits at JB’s, and we’ll give you a cookie.
>>> What’s better than sweat on the back of your neck and a drunk girlfriend hanging on you in the dead of winter? Ask DJ Apt One of Weekend Picks cover stars Philadelphiyinz (pictured) when he guests at Bleached Black at Medusa. Or better yet, ask the cast of characters at the first decent Sugartown lineup in recent geological memory: Beretta 76/Victor Victor Band/Ken and more, at Tritone. 3…2…1 until ST impresario Sara Sherr leaves a comment about this post, something along the lines of “WHY GOD WHY!” To we answer: We don’t know, God (or Earf), we don’t know.
SUNDAY:
>>> Scroll down-like for Oscar cribsheet, remember to watch The Wire before red carpet time, because come 6pm, you’re a big fat gay man just like the rest of the country.

Oh please, do make your cruel jokes about the Wilco afterparty at the M Room. Can’t wait to hear them actually. We wouldn’t want your tender bones, especially your spine, to take any harm from holding back!

Thanks for the mention on such an awesomely busy weekend. I honestly don’t expect you guys to be jazzed about every bill I do, since all of them have been so different this year.
