This Evening: Many Rivers To Cross, Yo

>>> The TLA Philebrity Screening Series is back tonight at National Mechanics (22 S. 3rd St.) with a right corker: The Harder They Come starring Jimmy Cliff (trailer at right), and presented by Y-Rock/WXPN/Drexel giver of life and music Jim McGuinn. As always, the screenings are free, get underway at 7:30pm, and please remember, smoking weed (especially in public places) is NOT LEGAL, Peter Tosh be damned.
>>> And good luck to all the finalists in this year’s Philly Sound Clash. The main event is tonight at World Cafe Live, with the winner taking away thousands in cash and prizes. Starts at 6pm, so hustle, hustler.
>>> Elsewhere — you know, in the realm of non-Philebrity related events — there’s Fleshtones/Jukebox Zeros/Dark Horse and the Carousels and DJ Thee Chief Inspector at Johnny Brenda’s. Fun trivia: Fleshtones frontman Peter Zaremba used to host MTV’s “The Cutting Edge” back in the mid-’80s, and we’re pretty sure he was the first actual hipster we ever laid eyes on. If only he knew what he’d started.
>>> And Dryw Scully and Chris Luxton’s new night at 700 gets underway, and it is appropriately called WTF. PLUS, O.G. style Broadzilla is at the Barbary! Be safe out there, people.
