Update: Philly Style Sold To Niche Media, Principals Issue Hilariously Transparent Quotes
It seems our tipster last week got it completely right: Michael Klein reported late yesterday that Philly Style — along with sister pubs DC Style and ACConfidential.com — have in fact been sold to Jason Binn’s Niche Media, LLC. But that wasn’t the funny part. Rather, it was the equivocating quotes on both sides that made Klein’s story smirkworthy. In addition to outgoing CEO Dana Spain-Smith’s assertation that “she was selling the business because she wishes to devote her time and energy to her pet charity, Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society” — like anybody DOES that — there was also this gem:
“We’ll be very passionate in celebrating the people who make Philadelphia special,” said Binn, whose wife, Haley, lived in Philadelphia.
Which we shall now translate for you:
“We’ll be very passionate in celebrating the advertisers and bougie fucktards who make Philadelphia completely fucking ubearable,” said Binn, whose only connection to the city is that his wife lived here once.
Oh, Philly Style, here’s to another glorious run!
