This Thursday night, the TLA Philebrity Screening Series is proud to present Dan Yemin introducing and saying a few words before a free screening of Dr. Strangelove at National Mechanics, 22 S. 3rd St. This event is free and open to the public. Dan moved to Philly in 1992 and has been playing in bands and making records for the past 16 years. As part of Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, Paint it Black and Armalite, he’s released over a dozen CDs and toured on four continents. He earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1998 at Widener University, and is currently in private practice in Ardmore and Paoli. He got married in June 2007. Most recently, his band Paint It Black completed New Lexicon, which will be released on February 19th, 2008.

Why he loves Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb: “Rarely has such grim subject matter (total nuclear destruction of the human race) been treated with such sharp wit and intelligence. Politics and slapstick might seem like an odd combination, but I think it makes total sense given the absurdity of the ‘peace through strength’ philosophy that prevailed during the arms race, and the paranoia that was so rampant during the Cold War. You’ve got Stanley Kubrick directing, and Peter Sellers playing three roles – It just doesn’t get any better.”
