Tonight, Philebrity is proud to host our monthly Foggy Notion party at Silk City, which is dedicated to showcasing new bands, hanging with old friends, playing records and getting drunk on school nights. There’s a handful of cool things happening at the party tonight, so we’ve prepared a handy timeline for the evening’s activities. Like so:
00pm: Doors open, no cover, Sweeney starts off the evening by initiating howling feedback from soundbooth. Looks sheepish, orders first drink special of the night: The $4 Madras. This will make a lot more sense once we cue up the CD for…
30pm: The Official Vampire Weekend Album Listening Party! Not sure if you’ve heard, but the VW album was officially released yesterday, rocked an 8.8 on the Fork, and if you haven’t already downloaded it, trust us, it is truly a delight. We’ve also got vinyl and poster giveaways as well as two pairs of tickets to the WAYYYY SOLD OUT Vampire Weekend show at the First Unitarian Church that we’ll be giving away. So if you are without tix for the 2/7 show, this really is your best bet. While we cannot guarantee that dancing will break out during the playing of the Vampire Weekend album in its entirety, THIS is what happened the last time we broke it out amongst a group of friends.
30pm: With the giveaways and VW out of the way, DJ Gareth Duffield of the band Public Record and the old Station post-punk/pop night back in the day. Says Duffield of the selections he’ll be dropping tonight: “Afro-post-punk cuts with that dancehall/Factory crack all disco-ed out in tropical gear at your momma’s soundsystem and you got a Smiths t on.” Believe.
30pm: This really is some kinda night! The band In Grenada — featuring Jesse from Movable Type, if that rings any bells — makes their WORLD DEBUT!!!!! They sound like this:
00-2:00am: More Madrases (Madrae?), more Gareth, Sweeney spins some tunes, more of everything. It’s late January. You have nothing to lose. See you at the Fog?
