NutLine®: Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’

This is the kind of straight up doggedness we are seeing in the early days of the Nutter Administration: We got a press release from them at 3:55 in the afternoon on a Sunday. Was it some horrible breaking news that City Hall just had to respond to? Was Cloverfield eating Penn Station? No. They just wanted to let you know about new appointments to the Convention Center Board of Directors. “Oh, you’re not working on Sunday? Neither are we, really, just having some pizza round the office. We just wanted to let you know, because, on the real, PHILADELPHIA IS A 24 HOUR CITY AND SHIT NEVER EVER STOPS!”
It’s hard not to get excited right now. Briefly, then:
· The clip above is from Hardball with Chris Matthews two days ago. [Hat tip to The 700 Level]
· In case you missed it, Nutter also sent whole chunks of the City Zoning Board packing last week, including one Sharif Street, who really is shaping up to the be the Corey Haim figure of his father’s epoch. [KYW]
· And it’s gotta be killing them to do so, but the new guys have delayed the City budget until Valentine’s Day, pending Commish Ramsey‘s “How-Fucked-Are-We” Report. Stock reference to The Wire: Can we all just say a lil’ prayer that Street wasn’t hiding a $54 million dollar whoopsie in his drawers? [AP]

If Ramsey’s report lies on budgetery means than I can understand a possible scenerio of being “fucked”. The commish has been an officer since his late teens and holds 40 years of experience and is leagues more established in creating cohesion over his predecessor. Ramsey is a big boy and his intial experience in his hometown of Chicago and his latter years in DC have proved well. As those 2 former towns have over the decades seen more crime and other assorted urban ills then our fair city. For crying out loud Ramsey had nearly accepted the commissioner role in Charm City, Baltimore before that mayor picked an internal officer.
