Musical Rumblings: I Love You, You Still Exist!

photon band>>> Mary, take a memo: What if, to combat crippling (yet entirely predictable) January depression, we declared a citywide PHOTON BAND DAY. On such a day, we’d fill the Khyber with sand (yes, this is the second time in a few days we’ve suggested filling venues with sand, get on it already), don orange Oakley goggles, smoke exclusively Moroccan hashish oil (not seen since 9/11, thanks a fucking lot, terrorists) and GET BACK TO THE SHIT THAT REALLY MATTERS. Who’s with me? Certainly the Photon Band, who at this point, we’d like to praise and congratulate: The groop releases their seventh album — SEVENTH! — Back Down To Earth today and we are pleased to pass on to you track three, “Thinkin’ Boutchoo.” Dig it:

>>> Guess who ELSE still exists? The Spinto Band, that’s who, Mr. Browncords. They just finished tracking a new album, titled Moonwink. It won’t be out until summer, but meantime, you can catch them on Feb. 2 at Johnny Brenda’s.
>>> And finally, this just in: Lineup for Coachella Festival has been announced, and if you’re tired of seeing Spank Rock, Diplo, Santogold and Man Man around Philly, well, uh… you can be tired of seeing them at Coachella, too. [Coachella]

Last years Coachella line-up was betterrrrrrr…Ive already seen a lot of the people I’d want to see in that line-up, except for Booka Shade, Portishead, Cut Copy (but I’ll probably see them in March anyways), Busy P, Modeselektor, Kraftwerk, James Zabiela, Kavinsky, Uffie, The Field, Black Kids, Shout Out Louds … oh who am I kidding, I’d love to go. Come hither East, you fair Coachella maiden!
