Rumblings: A Series Of (Heavy Sigh) Tubes
>>> Hey, lookie! Does the headline at right look familiar? Holy Folgering, it should. On the plus side, it’s nice to see the Inky pimp a story about the proposed Philly Bike Share to an audience mostly made of people whose asses have not touched bike seat in decades; on the other, it’s just sad to see all those Philly-is-the-new-Paris quips recycled from last year. [Philly.com]
>>> Looks like cab fares will be going up 20 cents per mile; not a huge deal, but can we get something in return? Namely, we’d like cabbies to stop acting like the machine doesn’t work/they suddenly can’t speak English/turn into ragemonsters when we wanna pay with ATM. Seriously, guys, it’s 2008: You can pay with a card. We’re not gypsies, trying to steal your soul with our crazy magnetic strip. It’s cool, relax. [CBS3]
>>> Oh, and as reported here last week, the ol’ FCC is definitely hoppin’ down Comcast‘s bunny trail. [KYW]

I’d appreciate not getting honked at just because I’m waiting to cross the street. Yes, I can see that you are a cab, I don’t need a hint like with the gypsy cabs in Brooklyn. If I had wanted a ride, I would have waved at you.

The cabbies do that because the service charges come out of their pockets. However, I am personally willing to tip handsomely the first cabbie who does not make up an elaborate lie that the machine is broken and/or threaten me when I try to use a credit card.
