Neighbourhood Watch: Burgers and Boxes
· SOUTH PHILLY: Sadly, the beloved Sam D’Amico Music Center calls it quits after 33 years of being in the drum business. On a selfish note, they are selling off the entire store, by appointment only. [South Philly Review]
· CENTER CITY: Union protestors outside of Five Guys Burgers on Chestnut Street are handing out flyers with mice on them in attempts to get people to stop eating there because they hired non-union electricians. Not, umm, because they actually have mice. They don’t. [PhillyChitChat]
· RITTENHOUSE: “i am a native center city resident. I have lived here most of my life except for a few years in Europe. i am sick and tired of the new people moving into the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood who do not know that Rittenhouse Square is never called Rittenhouse. It is called Rittenhouse Square or the Square. Please watch this in the future as I do not want to repeat this.Thanks.” Huh? [PhillyBlog]
· SPRING GARDEN: Bart Blatstein buys yet another property — this time, it’s a big ‘un, the old State building at Broad & Spring Garden — which he will promptly turn into overpriced metal boxes. Get your check books ready! [Inky]
