Attn. Brian Tierney Pentagram Of Doom: I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE. BUY THE METRO.

pentagramHoly shit, we bet you almost forgot all about the ol’ BTPOD, huh? Well, while it’s true that things have been settling down somewhat at Broad & Whatever, when we saw this item about the Metro putting up its U.S. papers on the selling block, we had one instant thought: Tierney & Co. — whoops, we mean Philadelphia Media Holdings — should totally snap them up. Though the Boston Globe is reporting that the Metro’s 3 papers — Boston, Philly and NYC — have lost over $10mil in the last year, that just seems like a fluke to us: Sooner or later, it feels like free newspapers are gonna be the way to go (rather than collecting the guild’s paychecks the old fashioned way, two coins at a time), and with that in mind, why not buy thee free newspaper brand? The Swedes who own the Metro are obviously freaked about the U.S. marketplace, so the asking price, whatever it is, could probably come down a bit. Not sure why we’re giving this advice — it kind of feels like one of those episodes of Charmed where they reveal that Shannon Doherty has been Satan Incarnate all along — but that’s what a few years in the media game will do to you. So Inky: YOU CAN HAS FREE NEWSPAPERS? MU-WA-HAH-HAH-HAH!!!!

    call me old-fashioned but I generally purchase a paper or two a day (plus picking up a copy of the aforementioned Metro) though I *always* feel ripped off buying the Sunday Inquirer.

    @Allan Smithee: okay, you’re old-fashioned.
