This Week On The Philebrity Player: The Sounds Of Kaleidoscope
One of the nicer parts about living in New Transplantadelphia ‘lo these last few years has been the city’s wonderful, if accidental, Adopt-A-Band program. Bands that might have otherwise been languishing in places like Dayton or Washington, D.C. — much less New York, which we won’t even get started on here — have somehow been moving to Philly and almost instantly breathing new life into themselves. Case in point: The Sounds Of Kaleidoscope, the up-until-recently D.C. band who share a lot of the psychedelic melee of both ’60s and shoegaze sounds that made the Lilys transplanted hometown heroes. This EP, The Sounds of Kaleidoscope Can And Do What They Will is the primer for a new album due out in spring ’08, and it’s a mind-bender. Check it out, and be a part of the welcome wagon.
