This Weekend: It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Schizmas
FRIDAY:
>>> Wildly schizophrenic weekend, folks: Tonight, there’s such a melee of parties and shows that it’s frankly confusing and option-paralysis-inducing. And that doesn’t even take into account holiday party season swinging into high gear as well. Then, tomorrow, kind of the same thing but just not as much star power. We can only tell you what we know, and also advise you that if you’re buying a tree this weekend, you might wanna check the Daily Miltonian’s guide to tree-buying from last year.
>>> The DJ party scene goes like this Mike Tee‘s round-the-world party; Diplo/Blaqstarr/DJ Sega/Dirty South Joe (this sounds like it’s going to be stupidly fun) at Fluid; and The Roots afterparty at Silk City, which oddly follows The Roots Show We Don’t Think Actually Exists. Oh, and Making Time at Pure. See contest below.
>>> And if Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Budos Band at the TLA doesn’t sell out, we’ll be 40something-speckly-gray rock critic’s monkey’s uncle.
>>> Ever since that Noontime Nug last week, we’ve been digging around for that cassette we have of the Dead Milkmen playing on WKDU in 1987. If you see Joe Jack Talcum with Adam Arcuragi‘s new Philly supergroup-ish band at Johnny Brenda’s, tell him that when we find it, we’re mp3-ing the shit out of that shit!
>>> Flyer of the week.
SATURDAY:
>>> And then there was darkness. Bet it all on Transit for Mad Pussy with The Juan Maclean and Philadelphiyinz or one of the 1,200 awesome house parties going on. For they — YOU — are the true owners of Saturday, December 14, 2007.
>>> But if you have no friends and don’t feel like knocking on every door until you find a house party (it won’t take long), the totally awesome Mobius Band at the North Star.
SUNDAY:
>>> Dear God, it’s me, Philebrity. Bougie commuters will complain, but if you gave us one total, ripping motherfucker of a snow storm this Christmas we promise we’d stop saying wickedly funny things about the indie/emo born-agains up the street forever for a week.
>>> Because I so want to sneaker-ski on the back of the Route 5 SEPTA bus to the Khyber to see some of that show with Greyhounds and The Sky Drops that we wrote about (see below post), and then ride a trash can lid back to Silk City for The Sounds of The Kaliedoscope. Please God. We don’t ask for much.
