Domelights: Because Cops Are Just As Creepy On The Internet As Regular People

police academyConfession: Sometimes, when you hear cops talk amongst themselves, it’s kind of like watching nuns without their habits playing poker and swapping dirty jokes. It just doesn’t feel right, but you cannot, will not, could not look away; thing is, everybody liked the Wizard of Oz a helluva lot more when they realized he was just some dude behind a curtain. Was his desire to do such a thing problematic? Sure, but at least dude was human. Such is our fascination with/obsession over Domelights.com, which is was what seems to be the go-to message board for all things Philadelphia Police Department. But please don’t read this as a Joey Vento-esque pass/cop fetish. Because frankly, some of the shit on Domelights is disturbing as hell. Take this bit, for instance, from a thread entitled “Greatest PPD quotes of all time:”

“We should be there any minute.”

An unnamed officer comforting a rape victim being transported to the Phila. Special Victims Unit, via the NJ Turnpike

Uhhh, what am I not getting here. Rape victim jokes? No, it can’t be. But as the thread goes on, this particular bit gets seconded again and again as being one of the funniest things a cop has ever said. Oh, Domelights. Part of us just doesn’t wanna know. Maybe you guys should make that forum register-only.

The joke isn’t really about the rape victim…

A few years back, a female officer picked up a rape victim in Philadelphia with the intent to take her to the Special Victims Unit, which was then at the Frankford Arsenal.

But the officer ended up getting a bit lost, crossing into New Jersey and then going up the NJ Turnpike, until she was within sight of New York City–when she apparently realized that she was a bit off course.

So the joke was about the dopey officer, not the rape victim.

That said, cops makes jokes about just about eveything they see, just like emergency room personnel, people in the armed services, and anyone else who deals with horrors and human ugliness on daily basis.

    So get over it!

this site is not a representation of the phila police department
we go to work and really try to be a benefit to this city
we actually try to do good
sometimes things get screwed up and unintentionally we make mistakes when there is malice in our acts this is unacceptable
this site is pro cop but the level of malice is evident ,,,,, not all police are ignorant/racist/misogynistic/Xenophobic/ pricks that some of the posters on this site are

and yeah some of these same posters DID find it funny when a girl was found dead in an apartment building AFTER her father requested help out side the building she was in ,,, he called 2 times …. after the second call…..the apartment was set on fire by the killer

now that was a disgrace to MY police department ….we failed shamefully
