Musical Rumblings: Riot Lovers, Tea Kettles And Blasts Of Holy Birth

ptrigger >>> Yes, Spin is still cranking out those online Band of the Day features, meaning they’re now looking to littler bands in an effort not to repeat themselves. So today Roxborough’s Papertrigger (running at left) get a turn, which fits in nicely with their recent rise to the top of the Hot Young Philly Band heap. Namely, their blogged-up Riot Lovers EP is out in a few weeks, and they’re opening for Broken Social pals The Most Serene Republic in NYC next month. [Spin]
>>> Just days after a triumphant JBs show, Coyote debut their creepy crawly video for the dirge-y grinder “Tea Kettle.” It’ll give ya goosebumps. [Daily Motion]
>>> Jury’s still out on whether to call Lewis & Clarke (who share a member with Coyote) local or not, but either way, their bucolic quietude slays us again and again. They play at MoMA, of all places, tomorrow. [Myspace]
>>> Bonus round: The Fader fetishizes not one but two Philly boys this month: Spank Rock and Freeway. Makes sense: Why choose between them when you can have both? [The Fader]

i saw these dudes once. They were playing some free show in Trenton, NJ. A midget in a wheelchair playing the table slide guitar opened for them, and a chick (maybe a dude?) in assless chaps was freaking out the whole time over the price of beer.

at one point the drummer picked up the midget and used him to hit cymbals with, and at another point, the music got so intense that the assless chaps chick (maybe a dude???)
started complaining because her/his face was melting off, and his leather pants were melting into the floor.

best night of my life. period.
