This Week On The Philebrity Player: PARK THE VAN
By now, we hope that you have completely memorized the Jack PeƱate album and will sing it word for word when he comes back to town in a month or so. And yes, we have been neglectful in our duties of providing you with a new weekly cubicle jockey soundtrack, and we apologize. If only there was something called “the Internet” that could bring you free music whenever you wanted it so you didn’t have to rely on The Philebrity Player. More about that later. Meantime, this week we jump from the UK on back to a consistent source of hometown pride, the Park The Van label. By now, the story should be well familiar: Hurricane Katrina refugees/indie kids land in PA, proceed to sign an epochal series of Philly bands: Dr. Dog, The Capitol Years, National Eye, The Teeth and so on. Next thing you know, the Dog is playing Letterman and The Capitol Years become millionaires through bank-breaking sales of their popular cell phone ringtones. There’s more to the story, of course, and that’s what this week’s record on the player, The Park The Van 2007/2008 Sampler, gets to the heart of. Sit back and enjoy. Park The Van Radio has a workforce block of rad comin’ up.
