Even The Losers Get Lucky Sometimes: Larry West Ponders His Next Move

westHow telling is it that in the last 32 hours, we’ve not wondered once about the fate of Al Taubenberger — we have a sneaking suspicion all dude really has to do is go up 95 and stay white — but we’ve been dying for news about 22-year-old political activist/METAL HAMMER Larry West, who for a hot five minutes back in April single-handedly made a ponderous, dirty election fun, and even kind of uplifting. Well, last night, West posted a MySpace bulletin that made us all warm and fuzzy inside. We loved this guy.

From the very bottom of my heart, I want to personally thank each and everyone one of you who went out and voted for me in the Tuesday election! It has been a long, tough, and well-fought election and I did my best to make sure I won. Sadly, I didn’t.

Through it all, I had people who supported me and wanted to see me win! It was thrilling to wake up on some mornings and see e-mails from supporters from not just Philadelphia, but around the world! Even today, I have messages pouring in wishing me good luck and that I did something great. There are quite a few people who would even say I was an inspiration, that I did something large and positive, and that the effect I may have in future elections may be great. [...] Thank you all for taking me seriously and realizing I wanted nothing more in this election than to help the citizens of Philadelphia. The results won’t be in for me for a few days, but I will post them as soon as I can.

Well, Larry, you’re very welcome. Ever since that fateful day last year when you wandered into our lives, we knew you’d be one to watch. Next up for Larry? He’s pondering a book about all of this. Oh, and if you live in Holland, catch him on TV this week. For the rest of you? 2011, baby, 2011.
