man man>>> Hot on everybody’s lips today is the news that Man Man (pictured here at UArts crits circa 1999) has signed to Anti- Records (their hyphen, not ours) in a move that will prompt many, many swipes involving their new direct pipeline to the artist the band rips off the most — Tom Waits, who’s also signed to Anti-. (God we fucking hate that hyphen.) On the upside, we’re looking forward to causing their new, more expensive publicist a meltdown when the time comes. Never let it be said that we don’t love a challenge. Congrats, guys! [Pitchfork]
>>> Meanwhile, ’90s Philly legends The Low Road — the band that basically invented WXPN — are reuniting for a one-off evening of shows this Saturday, November 10 at the Tin Angel (also not seen since roughly 1996). Bonus points if you bring your old Low Road cassettes for the band to sign. (Note to our younger readers: Cassettes were these weird little plastic rectangles with spools of ta- …oh, look! They’re already asleep! They’re so, so precious at this age.)
