“After That, Coke Never Quite Felt The Same Again”
Moe Tkacik’s latest screed on Jezebel is an insider’s look (back) at the coke-fueled megamachine that is American Apparel. While she does a fair bit of soul-searching amid all that dishing, she ends with a defiant “but you know, whatever” and admits in the comments, “The discount was pretty great and I still shop there.” Certain passages even read like prime Bret Easton Ellis:
He lived down the street from the American Apparel store in the Lower East Side and would find hipster cokehead girls jobs at the chain’s various outlets and then, in turn, find clients among the other employees, which worked really well until everyone got so coked-out they had to blow it up their asses and a girl stole $14,000 from the till and everyone sort of left town after that.
Ah, we could read this all day. To echo one of the commenters: Where’s the book?
