Dept. Of You Get A 30% Discount When You Work For QVC
You don’t feel like working together, either? Iain Levison takes us inside the offices of Gyro, Beyond.com, and other “the atmosphere is less high-powered business meeting and more free period in high school” workplaces for the Best Places To Work issue of Philly Mag. So if you still think that absolutely nothing is accomplished at Gyro on a typical work day, here’s further evidence:
“It looks like the company’s seat of power was designed by a frat boy making an effort on parents’ weekend. In fact, the entire office has a college-dorm vibe. The entrance hall near 13th and Sansom blares some good singer-songwriter folk music as you wait for the elevator.”
Bunch of knuckle-cracking, Nantucket Nectar drinkers. There’s also a list of the 20 Best Companies in or around Philly in case you want in on the mind-numbing complacence that is workplace nirvana. Among the holy lands are the Urban Outfitters HQ with their on-site art and yoga classes, Commerce Bank’s pet perks, and PhillyCarShare’s green offices. Best Office goes to 4 Walls, LLC, other employer of Kelly White, who works from her kitchen, which doesn’t have an air hockey table or a community Netflix account. However: There’s always access to the Philebrity jet.

I’ve heard that at Beyond.com, the lunch breaks are only a half-hour long, and you get reprimanded for leaving your desk too much for coffee, or “not looking busy enough” in general. I’ve also heard that no one actually uses the game room.
Than again, the guy who told me this is insufferable.
oh life; who to trust?
