That's a mighty big claim, seeing how the "terroir"of Atco includes asphalt, body shop runoff, and Aqua Net. Then again, the lush grape vineyards of the haunted Italian island of Poveglia are still nourished by the 160,000 corpses dumped there during The Black Death. Makes for good wine, apparently.The last time I tried local Jersey wine, it had an industrial nose, and literally tasted like cherry cough drops dissolved in turpentine; I had to warn friends to throw away the bottle before they tried it.I want to believe--I'm a proud exporter of local produce--but I think I'll stick with our world-class berries, corn, tomatoes, peaches and greens for now.
