Breaking: SugarHouse Pisses Up A Rope Files Suit Against City
While we have a hard time believing we’re the first people to break this [Ed.: Whoops, we're not - Metro had it a couple hours ago.] indeed it does appear that HSP Gaming Inc. — corporate parent company to the much-debated SugarHouse Casino — has filed suit against the City of Philadelphia in a beef seemingly over the city’s attempts to re-site and/or buffer casino zones. While our legalese is a little rusty, the claims seem to put forth that none of these issues are the right or responsibility of the City — that belongs, says the suit, to the State, the Gaming Control Board and not any of the rest of us, whom, as you know, Sugarhouse would prefer that we go fuck ourselves. (Remind us to tell you about the absurd exchange we had with SugarHouse publicist/expert Googler Dan Fee some time.) Anyway, what does Sugarhouse want from the suit? Seemingly, not money — and wisely, too. Imagine them trying to collect that. Rather, the casino seeks “summary relief and expedited briefing” — basically, they want a judge to tell City Council to get the fuck out of the way and let the State and Sugarhouse resume their hard anal rape of this City that you and I would take a bullet for rather than let Delaware Ave. be polluted with hopeless mouthbreathers (again). Oh, SugarHouse, good luck with all of this. Really, guys. Meantime, you can download PDFs of the papers on the SugarHouse site.
