This Evening: Strawberry Guillotine

>>> What happens when indie-pop dudes go to the Dark Side? Ask San Francisco’s Sic Alps, whose two main members used to be in the Slumberland bands The Ropers and Henry’s Dress. These days they’re doing the basement blues thing, sorta like The Black Keys gone Siltbreeze. Some songs’ve got a garage-y stomp, and some just crumble and burp into oblivion. But hey, they make cool videos and play in interesting places. Tonight they’re at Big Jar Books with the forever-punk Mikey Wild. 8pm. 2nd St., between Market and Arch.
>>> Yo La Tengo‘s intimate Free Wheelin’ show is sold out, so count yourself lucky if you got a ticket. And be plenty punctual for opener Jack Rose. At The First Unitarian Church Sanctuary.
