Wednesday, October 17: Foggy Notion With Jack Peñate And Special Guests Broadzilla At Silk City
Jack Peñate is this guy from the UK that we are totally in love with who just signed to XL Recordings, was on the cover of the NME a few weeks back, and just dropped his debut album, Matinee. (Listen to it on The Philebrity Player this week.) We are psyched beyond belief that he’s coming to play our Foggy Notion party this week — one of only two U.S. shows he’s playing this time around — and we’re also pumped to let you know that we’ve just added Broadzilla DJs to bring the party vibe on Wednesday. It’s only 5 bucks, and you can say you were there before everybody else started jocking this guy like he’s The Strokes in 2000.

Friday, October 19: Philebrity Chats With Director AJ Schnack After The Philly Premiere Of About A Son
AJ Schnack is a really old buddy of ours from Los Angeles, whom you may know from his documentary Gigantic: A Tale Of Two Johns, about the band They Might Be Giants. About A Son is his much-lauded documentary about Kurt Cobain, which is told in the voice of Cobain himself. Using the interview tapes from Michael Azzerad‘s definitive Cobain bio and music from Ben Gibbard, About A Son contructs a portrait of Cobain that’s wholly unlike any you’ve seen before. AJ will be in Philly Friday night, and we’ll have a Q&A with him after the Friday evening screening at Ritz At The Bourse. Stay tuned for screening time and ticketing link.
Saturday, October 20: Philly Takes On New York At The CMJAWN!
Philebrity and our friends at the Popped! Festival are pleased to be working together on CMJAWN, our all-Philly show at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York this week. On the bill: The Cobbs, The War On Drugs, Nouveau Riche and Rock Tits DJs. It’s a late-night party at Piano’s on the Lower East Side, and if you’re in NYC this weekend, we’d love to see you.
