This Evening: Very Metal
>>> We know that some of you out there have deep, dark metal pasts that you don’t talk about much for fear that everyone will know what you are REALLY like and you’ll never get laid again. And you know what? WE LOVE THAT ABOUT YOU. So consider this a toe tapping out a morse code message under the gay men’s room stall that is metal, telling you to go see the Metal Blade Records 25th Anniversary Tour with Cannibal Corpse (video at right) and The Black Dahlia Murder at the Trocadero tonight. Think of it: For one night, you will be free of Arcade Fire-isms, free from the tyranny of beards and knitwear, free, free, FREE! of — dare we say it — locally produced artisan beers. Hell, if we could, we’d disappear into the metal scene and never come back.
>>> Not geeky enough for you? OK, try this one on for size, Poindexter: Seclusiasis Presents The Philadelphia Laptop Battle 8 at the North Star. Can cosplay and LARPing be far behind?
>>> Don’t answer that. Instead, roll up the first night of The 215 Festival, previewed here. It’s Kerouac and avant-garde films tonight; check back here for more tomorrow.
>>> Oh and it turns out we were wrong a bit earlier when we wrote about Home Blitz in West Philly. (See below.) In fact, they’re playing TONIGHT at Queen Sheba II, 45th & Baltimore Ave., with the one and only Kurt Vile. See, West Philly? We care.

Free from beards? I was just in Chinatown and I saw a number of gentlemen who were going to perform tonight.
All of them had beards.
I even approached them and told one “Hey…awesome Kreator shirt, too bad they haven’t put anything good out since Extreme Aggression”.
After that I kept on walking.
