Fox29 Email Pyramid Scheme Finally Producing Results
It’s one thing to vote in a best-of-Philly poll when it’s actually one that’s produced and monitored by actual Philadelphians. (We can count PhillyMag in this because, at the very least, they know a few.) But it’s entirely another when a giant corporation — such as, say, FOX — shits out a BOP because somewhere, in some meeting, some drone convinced the board that localization is really what this new media is all about, sir. So pardon us for having bristled at the endless MySpace posts and emails from local businesses, begging us to go on MyFoxPhilly, give them our email addresses and vote. Like we all need to do more of Rupert Murdoch’s bidding. Well, the results are leaking out, and behold, the MyFoxPhilly List Of Best Local Businesses, as ransomed by the thousands of guilt-induced emails that put them there. The Golden Unicorns, these are not. But it is nice to see National Mechanics, Smak Parlour, North Bowl and others get their due. But at what price, we ask you? At what price?
