Areas in which the Japanese are unfuckwithable: Electronic pets, monster-conjuring, insane youth culture and group sounds. What are these “group sounds,” you ask? Why, that’s the name of the genre of music that has persisted in Japan since the ’60s, wherein young men dress as Beatles and make screaming, howling old-time rock ‘n’ roll that is as fun as it is completely indecipherable. Tonight at International House in West Philly, they’re having a full-on group sounds experience, featuring a screening of Go Forward! — essentially the Hard Days’ Night of group sounds pictures, starring The Spiders — and a performance by The Captains, pictured here.
