July 17, 2007 – There is an indication that Philadelphia has been, or at least was at one time, among possible targets for terror in this country.

Has anyone else been verrrrry skeptical about the whole “I have a gut feeling al-Quaeda might strike again” line that’s been pumped out by the TV news over the last couple of weeks? Well, Action News isn’t — so much so that in a lead story last night, they pimped out info (that by their own admission was six years old) that would make you think Lil’ Osama‘s watching your every move. Now, it’s been known since 9/11 or before that the area around 6th and Arch — from Independence Hall up to and including the U.S. Mint — could have been, maybe might have been, possibly, sorta a terrorist target. (Hell, we found out on 9/11, when we were pretty much evacuated outta the neighborhood.) This isn’t news — shit, we even found a City Paper “Bell Curve” item on this dating back to early ’02. So why would ActionNews try to pass that shit off as new now, a full six years after everybody already knew?
Same reason they always run shit like this, years after the fact: Because they’re lazy and they think you’re a fucking moron.
