Universal Pictures has acquired screen rights to “Gone Like the Wind,” a Buzz Bissinger-penned article in the August issue of Vanity Fair about 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro.

Peter Berg will direct the film and produce through his Film 44 shingle with Sarah Aubrey.

Sigh. Things to look for in this film: Rumpled men looking for one last thing to believe in, many forced horse metaphors and some kind of commentary on America visible, as always, only to Buzz Bissinger. Oh, and simultaneous Philadelphia Weekly orgasms. Those guys live for this shit.
