SEPTA: Not Sure If You’re A Boy Or A Girl
SEPTA, SEPTA, SEPTA. We know times have been kind of tough lately, but this is no time to start channelling your aggressions out on your riders. Equality Advocates, previously known as the Center for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights, has filed a complaint against everyone’s fav public transportation in the southeast on behalf of a client who has been having problems with SEPTA’s (in this case, unfortunately named) TransPass.
Septa’s current policy requires an identifying male or female sticker to be placed on the pass to ensure that there’s no funny business about sharing with your friends. It’s as strict as a Catholic school homecoming, except boys and girls have no choice but to accidently and awkwardly touch in close and uncomfortable proximity. The transgender client making the complaint has been harassed for not passing distinctly, at least by one obviously sophisticated SEPTA employee’s standards, as either male or female. In an effort to lift the sticker policy, the advocacy group is asking for others to come forward who have also felt discriminated against. We’re not sure if this also includes dudes who just have long hair that bus drivers fuck with. Not that that ever happens, you know. Just saying.
