Philly Boy Roy Selected As A&R Man For Wawa Records, Reveals He’s Never Even Touched “Wooder”
It’s been a few weeks since we checked in with Philly Boy Roy, hometown hero and roving correspondent for Tom Scharpling’s Best Show on WFMU. But a reader sent us in an mp3 of Roy’s SXSW post-game, in which he reveals the following:
· He’s the A&R guy for the new record label venture from Wawa
· No one in his family has ever had water, unless it came from soda or rain
· His first signings are The Heroes (Robert Hazard’s backing band); a new Questlove project that “sounds like Lee “Scratch” Perry mixed with “club Ninja-era” Blue Oyster Cult”; and Minions, a Dr. Dog side project. Listen and laugh:
