Bob Brady Announces That He’ll Be Announcing A Very Special Announcement
Oh man, this whole let’s-get-a-new-mayor thing just got waaaaaay crazier: Bob Brady is the guy who pretty much runs the Democratic party in Philly. It also just so happens that Bob is muy simpatico with the unions in town that, in previous years, tell everybody in the neighborhoods who to vote for and, whoosh, it just seems to happen! They say you can’t win in Philadelphia without the kind of union juice Brady has, and while this can be good (Rendell, oh, no, wait, they didn’t like him), it can also be very, very bad (Street). Depends on the man. And just who is the man? All we can tell you right now is that he does not immediately appear to be evil. According to The Next Mayor, he’s a great mediator, and adept at smoothing over sticky political situations. Also, his “biggest enemy” is chief union boot-knocka Johnny Doc, which does suggest that as has been rumored here and there, Dougherty would run on the Republican ticket, pulling his union dudes with him. (Thereby creating a West Side Story-esque election situation in which Sharks Vs. Jets equals you, average citizen, totally fucked.) But as for Brady, he seems kinda meh on policy, so he better kick ass and take names when he announces his run on Thursday. We’ll see. But one thing is for sure: This is election, even more than it already was, just went into hyperspace overdrive with the whole “Old Philly VS. New Philly” vibe. Strap in, my friends.
