After all, The Dears (pictured) are the barn-burning, sweaty Canadian answer to the Smiths, hot hand on heavy heart, pledging eternal devotion to all that is the combo of melancholy and “kinda sexy.” Meanwhile, Annuals are the Animal Collective-ish band who got instant Philly infamy for smashing up the Starlight Ballroom’s toilets ‚Äî cue funny image of Annuals singer to toilet: “I CONSIDER THIS TOILET TO BE A METAPHOR FOR THE STATE!” ‚Äî but might actually hang out long enough to be your new favorite n?º-gaze thing.
