I left town for work over 6 years ago and return last year to find that not much has changed. To be fair, there are a bunch of bands in town now that I have yet to hear that get a lot of praise, so I'm a rookie and my sampling group isn't all that large. I have seen The War on Drugs and The Cobbs both play a couple of times and they were that typical in-the-pocket dull and semi-spacey Philadelphia brand of indie rock. People enjoying a War on Drugs live show are the same noseblowers who laugh out loud at linguistic jokes at a Shakespeare play. "Oh, it's so clever...I'm so lucky to be one of the smart people who gets it..." No you don't. Not unless you were all high.They do rock if you're high, though.
