Update: No, Seriously, The Sunday Law Is Gone

andy cappA few days ago, we relayed a reader’s discovery that the “Sunday 30%” Rule had been rather quietly abolished. The rule, you may recall, applied to bars that didn’t serve food ‚Äî in other words, if your bar did less than 30% of its business in food, it was illegal to be open on Sunday, operating on the logic, we suppose, that even stinkin’ drunks need a decent meal once a week, and if the bar was closed, they’d be more likely to go the hell home to Mrs. Andy Capp. As soon as we made the post, though, it was refuted in the comments by someone likewise savvy of the law. has nothing to do with smoking.
