Kelly White Explains It All: Central Library To Be Reincarnated As Dov Charney Den Of Sin
Oh, Wikipedia. The things you say about Moshe Safdie, the architect who once apprenticed under our man Louis Kahn, and is now The Chosen One for the $30 mil makeover of Philadelphia Free Library’s Central Branch. This didn’t excite us much until we scrolled across the words Dov Charney and American Apparel. Turns out the Israeli designer is Uncle Moshe to one CEO of the sweatshop-free, amateur-porn-friendly garment company. Now envision our new library as a libertine retreat, a hedonistic oasis of bare mattresses and librarians clad in body-suits and tube socks. We know we’re stretching, but the Kama Sutra deserves its own department. And what’s this we hear about the new Teen Center? Sigh with us. If only blood was that thick.
