Metro Adopts “Loosies -N- Blunts” Beat

bluntWe don’t quite know what to make of this: Two stories by Josh Cornfield in today’s Metro, both of which would lead one to believe, if one were to draw conclusions from related stories in the same newspaper on the same day, that the paper has launched a program to keep everybody apprised of the latest news in Bluntology and Cornerstoremanation. Both concern anti-drug activist Jerry Rocks Sr. The first? A crackdown on “loosies,” the practice of selling single (or “loose”) cigarettes in poor neighborhoods that presumably prepares local youth for an Oz-tastic future where single cigarettes in fact become their own currency. Next up, a piece on our fair city’s greatest contribution to weed culture, the Blunt. Seems like some folks up in the Northeast are upset because it’s still 1972 up there and parents are still just discovering that teenagers can smoke pot out of anything if they have a mind to, not least, a totally disgusting, sure-to-make-you-puke strawberry flavored cigar. Blech. So what gives, Metro? Did the Swedes just buy a part of this, too?
