few things

1) maryanne, maybe you should also pick up the classic writing reference, ��the elements of style�� by strunk and white — it’s “than”, not “then”

2) Hans, “In Philadelphia bitches get stitches…” How old are you? 16?

3) Art_S, ��McAnus��…very original. points for that one.

4) I don’t agree with everything that Mr. McManus says, but I think he’s totally fair(especially in said article). Just because Dryw Scully is everyone’s buddy doesn’t mean we should all have a little hissy fit…

Hey,
This is Justin, here, from Favourite Sons. Just wanted to chime in to let everyone know that Dryw Scully is an absolute saint and deserves nothing but praise for his long-term and undying support of Philly music and nightlife. Every since I met Dryw 10 years ago at Time Zone on South Street he’s been 1000% enthusiastic and excited about Philadelphia and the bands it has produced and continues to produce. Where so many others drift away, get jaded, get bitter, or lose interest, Dryw has remained consistently excited and supportive of the bands around him. As he is now in the situation to help these bands, it only makes since that he does so….wouldn’t you? As for Favourite Sons, we have never asked or expected Dryw to play us in-store or give us placement on a CD. We are great friends and he is moved by our music, so that’s the reason. Dryw began to support us this way before he was our manager, and we will support anything he wants us to be involved with forever. Mind you, Dryw’s not writing reviews or taking payola to present us in a false light. He’s curating groups of music, based on his deep and strong love/knowledge of music. He’s a wonderful man and if you have the chance, it’s worth sitting down and hearing his side. OK, that’s that.

As for all this other ribble ravvle, what is wrong with you people? He writes for a free paper! Allow him his vices while friends of Dryw revel in his largeness. He is large, his head? Huge.

#1. brian m: i want to thank you for facilitating positive comments to arise in perpetuity regarding dryw scully.

#2. brian m: you stated that you’re unclear as to how your article insinuated a personal attack on dryw. i decided to read your article and to also help you. i’m a social worker. i like to help. let me explain: based on your chosen language, the article clearly did not “ask the reader to decide”. plain and simple, you revealed a tactless argument. if this is still confusing to you, i recommend the classic writing reference, “the elements of style” by strunk and white.

#3. re- philebrity comments: as indicated, without a doubt, dryw is so intensely committed to helping out philly bands and yes, sometimes his friends(duh), only because he wants other people to hear what he loves, while getting and wanting nothing back for it.. and he would rather spend every night during the week pushing this cause then to go over to his hot girlfriend’s house.
