Forget about a six-foot fence around Independence Hall. The public spoke, and park officials listened, and Friday they announced a new security plan for Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.

While they’re not elaborating much on what they are doing only to say it does involve new technological measures, National Parks Service Director Mary Bomar says they won’t be putting up that controversial fence.

“In addition, we will remove completely the existing bicycle barricades around the Liberty Bell Center.”

Well, thank gawd for that last bit, at least. We’re tired of drunkenly crashing our bikes into ‘em. True story.
