After 4 Years, Plain Parade Packs Up Toys And Goes Home

pp

We have just four shows left for 2006, and we’d like to tell you not to miss ‘em, because we think all our shows are special. But the truth is, after four years, Plain Parade is not up for re-election. We believe our work is done here. Just like Sleater-Kinney, we are taking an indefinite hiatus.

We’d like to thank all the bands who played with us, the venues who hosted our events, the writers who supported us, and most important, anyone who ever rocked with us. We love you all. Just like Jon Bon Jovi, we’ve seen a million faces and rocked them all. Okay, maybe not a million, but you get the point.
[...]We’re sure you’re wondering why. When we started, there were very few opportunities outside the Khyber for local bands to play. Now there’s so many options, which we’d like to think we were a part of ushering in.
Anyway, we’d rather parlay our energies into other projects; we’re so excited about having the time to support other people’s events.

What’s next for us? Sara’s going to return to her roots as a writer and continue to perform with the Dumpsta Players. Maria’s heavily involved with blogging/writing and radio (at WPRB & WQHS); she also was recently tapped by Pitchfork to photograph concerts/etc for their site.

Notice the Khyber dig, even at the bitter end. So much rage. Sigh. We bid you well, ladies. Maybe we’ll see you one day at that great Huggy Bear reunion show in the sky.
