The irony is that for the last year, much of the city – Council members, anti-smoking advocates, restaurant patrons and others – have been drumming their fingers on the bar, waiting for some movement on the bill that would finally ban smoking in restaurants and most bars. People – including this page – wanted to know what the delay was about, and why did we have to wait for this?

Then, when the mayor said it would go into effect immediately, the response was, “What’s the rush? Why can’t we have more time?”

Ouch. The truthiness of it all.
