Local Artist Turns Abu-Ghraib Misery Into Art

d heymanFound in today’s press release pile:

Lots of artists deal with political issues, but Philly artist Daniel Heyman went a step further. He recently traveled to Amman, Jordan and Istanbul to interview former detainees at Abu Ghraib. His installation, “Clean Up America,” can be seen now thru Sept. 30 at the Archive Space at Crane Arts, and the public reception for the piece is this Friday, Sept. 15. Central to the work are portraits of a man who was assassinated shortly after the interviews took place.

That’s pretty badass. Not the assassination part. That’s very sad.
