Advance Warning: Good News For People Who Are Stuck In Philly This Week

get aheadIt’s crunch time, people. Summer is about to jump back over the moon and you’ve got, well, not a lot to show for it. We know how you feel. Why, just the other day, somebody was saying to us, “Don’t fret, Little Philebrity ‚Äî don’t you know that Fall ‘06 is going to be the new Summer ‘05?” Frankly, this confused us. We don’t know what to believe. But this week, we’re going with our guts and squeezing out every last drop of summer fun. It starts on Thursday with the Series 1021 screening of How To Get Ahead In Advertising, Bruce Robinson’s totally insane romp through the ad world circa 1989. Richard E. Grant ‚Äî also known as the awesome crazy English dude from Withnail & I, another Robinson masterpiece ‚Äî plays an ad exec who’s hoodwinked the populace for years on end, and made himself wildly rich and powerful in the offing. But when a project for a new pimple cream gets the better of him, all hell breaks loose (at least in his mind) and suddenly, he’s got a new friend ‚Äî a talking boil, gross as can be, growing out from his neck and bitching at him incessantly. (Kind of like us and The Clog.) Fans of scathing English comedy can do no better. Please join us for this screening under the stars ‚Äî the last one was a great time, and this one should be even better.
How To Get Ahead In Advertising, Thurs., August 31, at dusk. Free. Complimentary popcorn and VitaminWater. Meet on the patio on the 1000 N. Block of Hancock Street in Northern Liberties. View map here. For more info, visit our Myspace page. Series 1021 is brought to you by Philebrity and Tower Investments.

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
